Retry & Fallback Patterns

Explore retry strategies and graceful degradation patterns for handling transient failures

Retry Strategy

Retry Settings

Service Health

90%

Try This:

  1. Set Primary Service health to 20% and send requests - watch them retry multiple times
  2. Compare immediate vs exponential backoff retry strategies
  3. Enable fallback and see requests succeed via the fallback service after primary retries fail
  4. Set max retries to 1 vs 5 and observe the difference in success rates

Active Requests (0)

Recent Completed Requests

No completed requests yet

How it works:

  • Immediate Retry: Retry failed requests instantly (can overwhelm failing services)
  • Fixed Delay: Wait a constant time between retries
  • Exponential Backoff: Increase delay exponentially (1s, 2s, 4s...) - best for transient failures
  • Fallback: After exhausting retries, try an alternative service or cached data
